Temporary bridge Haaksbergen

Bridge over the Buurserbeek Ready for Use

In 2021, the bridge over the Buurserbeek between Eibergen and Haaksbergen was subject to a weight restriction due to safety concerns. This caused significant inconvenience for trucks and other heavy vehicles, which had to detour via the new N18, leading to economic damage for local businesses.

To mitigate the disruption, Rijkswaterstaat and the municipality of Haaksbergen decided to construct a temporary bypass next to the existing bridge, allowing for its replacement. The temporary solution consists of a JSK bridge from Janson Bridging, made up of two spans of 13.5 meters with a central support in the stream. On both sides, a pedestrian and bicycle bridge has been installed to separate light traffic from other vehicles.

The new bridge is scheduled to officially open in week 37 and is expected to alleviate the traffic issues in the region for the time being.
